ORN Ottawa is dedicated to unifying our community's efforts to improve public safety by engaging citizens and businesses in order to help prevent drinking and driving over the holiday season, and in doing so raise funds to directly benefit the youth of Ottawa.
Establishing ORN Ottawa
In 2011, David van Vlaanderen, the Ontario Safety League, Ottawa’s City Councillor Mark Taylor, and the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa came together to work successfully on the launch of Operation Red Nose’s Ottawa chapter. Previously, coverage of the Ottawa region fell under the mandate of its successful sister chapter in Gatineau, Quebec.
It is the through extensive media coverage, canvassing for sponsorship support, volunteer recruitment and training sessions that ORN Ottawa continues to be successful in promoting the service.
These amongst other responsibilities and challenges involved with setting-up and operating annually the ORN Ottawa chapter requires the help from sponsors, donors, and volunteers alike. Please visit our link to Support Us and learn more on how you can make Operation Red Nose Ottawa possible.
The new chapter saw in its first year, over 12 nights and covering 16,000 km, a total of 425 answered calls with over 380 volunteers dispatched. Through donations and sponsorship, the Ottawa team raised more than $14,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa.
